I can't believe we finally got to go camping! said Maggie on day before Mother's Day.
You know Grandma's flowers are really pretty! Guess that's why she wanted to come, added Ashley.
The girls could hardly sleep that night, waiting for the surprises the next day held in store.
What a surprise when Julie showed up to accompany Maggie and Ashley as they visited the camping area.
We're really going to hike this trail? asked Ashley. Not the whole thing, said Maggie. Just down to the spring and back.
It's so pretty from up here! exclaimed Julie. I'm already tired, said Ashley.
Wow! This was really worth coming for! said Ashley, as the girls rested near the spring.
I'm so glad we came on this hike! said Julie excitedly.
Hope we don't fall! Julie shrieked, as they climbed up the side of the mountain.
It's so cool here, said Ashley.I love these stone walls!
What is that down there? asked Maggie, as they stood inside a hollowed-out tree. I don't know but I think we better head back, added Ashley.
Maybe next time we can float the river, said Maggie.
Do you think there are fish in the river? asked Julie. Sure! said Maggie. I can see them swimming around in the clear water.
How about we plan on coming back to go swimming when the water warms up, suggested Maggie. Both Ashley and Julie agreed that would be a great idea!
This will always be one of my favorite Mother's Days! said Maggie. Ours, too! chimed in Julie and Ashley.
I'm glad we brought some of the spring water back with us! said Ashley gleefully. I didn't think it would taste so good!
Gee! You'd think we would have something besides cocoa and popcorn for lunch after that long hike!
